Greetings:

Happy Father’s Day!! If we had an opportunity to sit around and share insights and stories about fathers and our own fathers we would tell and hear some interesting stories. I find that when we have a family gathering and my children start telling stories about me being their dad it is far different from what I remember. Even so I do have the privilege to be a father. God made the position of fatherhood after Himself as the Father of all things. God is the head of the home through which He guides, teaches, disciplines, loves, provides stability to all in His home. It is from His own model that God gave us fathers.

Fathers may not always bring God to the home but all fathers bring the principles of God to a home. In a father led home there is generally greater discipline and respect (please do not misunderstand we can never say every and always about anything on any subject because of our sinfulness and fallen human nature) but I researched a few statistics for us to see. From the Department Of Justice information of 2016 here are some things for us to think about in homes that do NOT have a father: 90% of runaways and homeless, 85% of behavioral disorders, 75% of substance abuse and rapists, 70% of HS dropouts and institutionalized juveniles all come from such homes. From a survey, 72% of Americans, all ethnic groups, believe a fatherless home is the most significant problem in the country.

Even with all our foibles God knows what He is doing for us in the creation of fatherhood. So in gratitude and God’s blessings I say thank you to all your dads and encourage you to just keep being who you are and have a great and blessed Father’s Day.

Other news!

On Sunday June 13 our congregation extended a Call to Rev. Ben Hollingsead to be the pastor of our Church.

Prayers of thanks to God who has touched with His own hand and guided the minds of the medical staff who ministered to Hazel Buenhoff who is home from a stay at Essentia Hospital.

Carrie McKay is leading Youth Night at the Church on Mondays, June 21 and July 7.  How about coming over and checking it out.

We have an on-going collection for upgrading our A/V systems in the Church; new camera and sound would make our Church great in the sanctuary and when we livestream.

Have a blessed week. Pastor Rehborg
